Abu Dhabi's AI Sector Sees A Significant Growth Of 61 Percent Over One Year

Abu Dhabi's artificial intelligence (AI) sector is experiencing rapid growth, establishing the emirate as a key player in global AI innovation. According to the Abu Dhabi Chamber, the number of AI companies in Abu Dhabi rose by 61% from June 2023 to June 2024, reaching 673 firms. This positions Abu Dhabi as a significant hub within the global AI landscape, which comprises around 90,904 companies worldwide.

The emirate is setting benchmarks for AI adoption across various strategic sectors. This progress is supported by institutions like the Artificial Intelligence and Advanced Technology Council (AIATC), which develops policies related to research and investments in AI. Other notable entities include the Advanced Technology Research Council (ATRC), the Technology Innovation Institute (TII), AI71, Hub71, G42, and Space42.

Abu Dhabi s AI Sector Grows by 61 Percent

In just six months from January to June 2025, Abu Dhabi witnessed the launch of 150 new AI companies. This expansion is driven by strategic investments, advanced infrastructure, and cross-sector demand. The Abu Dhabi Chamber reports that over 58% of AI firms focus on innovation, research, and consultancy, highlighting a sophisticated business environment.

Shamis Ali Khalfan Al Dhaheri of the Abu Dhabi Chamber stated that the emirate's AI sector is evolving from early adoption to real-world transformation. He noted that this growth reflects a vibrant community of entrepreneurs and scientists who see Abu Dhabi as a hub for groundbreaking technology ventures.

The Abu Dhabi Chamber has introduced a strategic roadmap for 2025-2028 focusing on business ease, policy advocacy, and ecosystem connectivity. A dedicated Advocacy Working Group on Artificial Intelligence and Technology unites sector leaders shaping AI's future in Abu Dhabi. This initiative gives the emirate a competitive edge as an innovation centre.

Al Dhaheri emphasised the importance of collaboration between government and business leaders in fostering innovation. "What sets this ecosystem apart is the strength of collaboration between government and business, global leaders and emerging innovators," he said. The Chamber aims to create conditions where innovation thrives as a standard practice.

Abu Dhabi's rise as a leader in AI-driven enterprise underscores its commitment to becoming a global centre for innovation and research. The emirate's focus on strategic investment and policy development continues to attract entrepreneurs and industry leaders worldwide.
