Abu Dhabi World Professional Jiu-Jitsu Championship Qualifier Rounds Kick Off At Mubadala Arena
The Abu Dhabi World Professional Jiu-Jitsu Championship's 17th edition began with country qualifier rounds for athletes in the purple, brown, and black belt divisions. Competitors from around the globe gathered to secure spots in the main brackets and finals. Each country can advance only two athletes per weight category if they compete at the same belt level. The finals for purple and brown belts are set for Friday, with black belt finals on Saturday.
Mohammed bin Dalmouj Al Dhaheri, a UAE Jiu-Jitsu Federation Board Member, highlighted the significance of the professional division. He stated, "The professional division is the part of the Abu Dhabi World Professional Jiu-Jitsu Championship everyone looks forward to because it showcases the highest level of technique and competition. The country qualifier rounds today were strong and very tactical, with plenty of speed, accuracy and advanced skills on display."

The championship's country-qualifier system ensures broad international participation in each weight division. This approach allows top athletes from each nation to progress to the final stages, enhancing competition levels. It also motivates athletes to improve continuously to reach the main brackets.
Emirati athletes delivered impressive performances during Thursday's qualifiers. Their success reflects the effectiveness of local training programmes and confirms their readiness for high-level competition. Many Emirati competitors secured places in Friday’s qualification rounds.
Faisal Alwahedi from Baniyas Club reached the purple belt main bracket qualifiers in the 69kg division. He expressed his excitement by saying, "I am delighted to reach the main bracket qualifiers. It is an important step in my career." He noted that intense preparation over recent weeks boosted his confidence for upcoming matches.
Eduard Dimura from Russia competes in the professional black belt 94 kg division representing ZR Team International. He shared his enthusiasm: "Competing at the Abu Dhabi World Professional Jiu-Jitsu Championship means a lot to me." Dimura has trained extensively to showcase his skills and aims for a strong performance.
Upcoming Finals and Awards
The championship continues on Friday with finals for purple and brown belts alongside black belt qualifiers. The event will conclude on Saturday evening with professional black belt finals starting at 6 pm. Following this, the Abu Dhabi World Jiu-Jitsu Awards will take place on Sunday night.
The championship's structure highlights its value by promoting international participation across weight divisions. This format encourages top athletes from various countries to strive for excellence as they aim for final stage advancement.
