Abu Dhabi Tourism Sees 47% Growth In First Half Of 2025 Due To Cultural Expansion And Strategic Initiatives
The Department of Culture and Tourism – Abu Dhabi (DCT Abu Dhabi) has reported significant growth in tourism for the first half of 2025. This success is attributed to the effective implementation of its Tourism Strategy 2030. The strategy aims to diversify offerings, enhancing Abu Dhabi's reputation as a cultural and creative hub.
Between January and June 2025, over 4 million visitors explored Abu Dhabi’s cultural and heritage sites, marking a 47% increase from the previous year. The Louvre Abu Dhabi maintained strong visitor numbers at 784,606. The Cultural Foundation saw a notable rise of 49%, welcoming 620,709 visitors. Meanwhile, Qasr Al Hosn attracted 467,398 visitors, reflecting a 14% increase.

Abu Dhabi's hotels experienced a surge in guests, with 2.9 million people staying between January and June 2025—a 2% increase from last year. Hotel revenues rose by 20%, with revenue per available room (RevPAR) reaching AED 446, up by 24%. Hotel occupancy remained robust at 80%, while the average length of stay for international guests increased to 3.2 nights.
New attractions opened in 2025 further boosted tourism numbers. The teamLab Phenomena Abu Dhabi drew in 145,912 visitors, while Al Maqtaa Museum welcomed another 30,974 guests. These additions highlight the emirate's expanding cultural appeal and commitment to enhancing visitor experiences.
Manarat Al Saadiyat witnessed an impressive growth of 139% in visitor numbers, reaching a total of 207,684. The House of Artisans also recorded steady growth with 234,142 visitors, showcasing the increasing interest in Emirati crafts and heritage.
Al Ain Region also benefited from this strategic focus on tourism. Hotel guests increased by 12%, with RevPAR rising by 7%. Cultural sites thrived as well; Al Ain Oasis saw a visitor increase of 40%, Qasr Al Muwaiji nearly doubled its visitors with a growth of almost 50%, and Al Qattara Arts Centre hosted a rise of 42% in visitor numbers.
International Visitor Trends
The success of promotional initiatives under Tourism Strategy 2030 is evident in the growing popularity among international tourists. Key markets such as India saw an increase of 29%, while the UK experienced a rise of 17%. Focused outreach and tailored campaigns contributed significantly to these results.
During Eid al-Adha in 2025, hotel occupancy across Abu Dhabi reached an impressive rate of over 80%, marking a year-on-year increase of six percentage points. RevPAR rose by an impressive margin of over one-fifth during this period. Asia emerged as the leading regional source market during this holiday season.
Strategic Vision for Future Growth
The strategic initiatives have set Abu Dhabi on course to achieve its ambitious Tourism Strategy goals for the decade ahead. By attracting more visitors annually and creating new jobs within the tourism sector, Abu Dhabi aims to expand hotel capacity significantly and contribute substantially to its GDP by the end of this decade.
The Al Dhafra Region also showed positive trends with a notable increase in RevPAR by over one-fifth year-on-year. Additionally, there was a significant rise in ALOS by nearly one-third compared to last year—demonstrating successful development efforts within this region.
"Our exceptional first-half performance is a powerful testament to DCT Abu Dhabi’s strategic vision," said Saood Abdulaziz Al Hosani, Undersecretary at DCT Abu Dhabi. "These results are a direct reflection of our deliberate investments in cultural infrastructure."
