Abu Dhabi Public Health Centre Rolls Out Comprehensive Pest Control Services
In a significant move to enhance public health and safety, the Abu Dhabi Public Health Centre (ADPHC) has recently taken over the responsibility of public health pest control services within the emirate. This strategic transition aims to streamline and elevate the monitoring and control of pests in residential areas, public spaces, and facilities, ensuring the well-being of the community.
For those seeking pest control services, ADPHC has made it convenient to lodge requests. Individuals, farm owners, and homeowners can now reach out to the Government Contact Centre at 800555 or utilize the TAMM platform to register their needs for pest management.

Dr. Ahmed AlKhazraji, Acting Director-General of ADPHC, emphasized the Centre's unwavering commitment to community health. He stated, "The provision of pest and disease vector control services is aligned with the highest international standards and practices. Our specialized teams are equipped with advanced techniques to effectively monitor and manage public health pests and disease vectors." This initiative underscores the critical role of pest control in curbing the spread of infectious diseases.
Moreover, ADPHC is set to collaborate with strategic partners to roll out upskilling programs for pest control professionals. This initiative aims not only to enhance their capabilities but also to advance scientific research on disease vectors. It includes developing new control methods through rigorous experiments and evaluating the efficacy of control materials and pesticides in both laboratory settings and real-world applications.
Community campaigns are another pivotal aspect of ADPHC's strategy. These campaigns aim to raise awareness about the importance of controlling public health pests and taking preventive measures. Such efforts are crucial for reducing the spread of disease vectors and other pests, thereby safeguarding both biological and societal health.
Dr. Farida Al Hosani, Executive Director of Infectious Diseases at ADPHC, highlighted the Centre's comprehensive approach towards pest control. "ADPHC will address reports concerning pest proliferation in open areas and homes while overseeing all activities related to pest control within the Emirate," she said. The regulation and distribution of pesticides will also be managed by the Centre to ensure their safe and optimal use.
The integration of information on disease examination with data on the spread of disease vectors is a key objective for ADPHC. This approach will facilitate efficient management of infectious disease transmission in Abu Dhabi, enabling targeted vector control measures based on geographical distribution.
The handover of pest control services from Abu Dhabi Waste Management Company (Tadweer) to ADPHC marks a new chapter in public health management in Abu Dhabi. While Tadweer continues its focus on waste management services, ADPHC will now handle a broad spectrum of disease-carrying pests including mosquitoes, flies, rodents, ticks, as well as potentially dangerous pests like snakes, scorpions, spiders, and wasps.
This transition not only signifies a more focused approach towards pest control but also reinforces Abu Dhabi's commitment to maintaining high standards of public health safety and environmental well-being.
