Abu Dhabi, Fujairah Sign Pact To Increase Museum Visits And Cultural Exchange

The Department of Culture and Tourism – Abu Dhabi (DCT Abu Dhabi) and the Fujairah Tourism and Antiquities Department have signed a Memorandum of Understanding. This agreement aims to enhance knowledge sharing and increase visitor numbers to their museums, thereby boosting tourism and economic growth in both emirates.

Saood Abdulaziz Al Hosani, Under-Secretary of DCT Abu Dhabi, and Saeed Al Samahi, General Director of Fujairah Tourism and Antiquities Department, formalised the partnership. The collaboration will involve exchanging knowledge, developing joint training programmes, and engaging tourists through combined marketing efforts.

Boosting Museum Visits in UAE

This partnership highlights a mutual commitment to promoting the cultural heritage of Abu Dhabi and Fujairah. By exchanging artefacts and artworks, they aim to attract more visitors and deepen public understanding of their histories. Al Hosani remarked that this MoU allows for joint programmes and promotions between the two museums.

Al Hosani added that showcasing the rich artistic and cultural heritage of both emirates will foster national pride and promote cross-cultural understanding. "This MoU enables collaboration between the two museums through joint programmes and promotions," he said.

Al Samahi emphasised that this agreement strengthens cooperation while highlighting Fujairah's historical and cultural richness. He noted, "Furthermore, this collaboration will open new prospects for all emirates in the UAE to exchange tourism experiences and explore pioneering practices."

He also mentioned that these efforts aim to make Fujairah an attractive destination for both domestic and international tourists. This initiative is part of a broader strategy to enhance tourism across all emirates.

Abu Dhabi's Cultural Transformation

In recent years, Abu Dhabi has evolved into a global hub for culture and creativity. The Saadiyat Cultural District hosts renowned institutions like the Louvre Abu Dhabi. It will soon welcome other major attractions such as the Guggenheim Abu Dhabi, Zayed National Museum, teamLab Phenomena Abu Dhabi, and Natural History Museum Abu Dhabi.

Tourism plays a crucial role in Abu Dhabi's long-term economic diversification strategy. The emirate recently launched its Tourism Strategy 2030. This plan aims to contribute AED90 billion annually to the UAE's GDP by 2030 and attract 39.3 million visitors each year to Abu Dhabi.

This strategic partnership between DCT Abu Dhabi and Fujairah Tourism underscores their dedication to enhancing cultural tourism. By working together, they aim to create a richer experience for visitors while driving economic growth in their regions.
