Abu Dhabi Customs Sets Up Virtual Corridors To Streamline Cargo Movement
The General Administration of Abu Dhabi Customs has finalised the Virtual Corridors Cargo Movement System in Abu Dhabi. This initiative aims to streamline the movement of duty-suspended goods between customs ports, free zones, and customs bonded warehouses within the Emirate. The system employs electronic customs seals as part of the National System for Tracking Trucks and Shipments, coordinated with the Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs, and Ports Security.
The initial phase of the Virtual Corridors Cargo Movement System targets shipments from Khalifa Port to companies in Khalifa Economic Zones Abu Dhabi (KEZAD). This includes free zone companies and private customs warehouses. Access to this facility is granted through approved digital platforms for customs services. Users must apply via the "Customs Entry/Exit Certificate" and select the "Cargo Transfer Request" option, providing shipment details as per the manifest or bill of lading.

The launch aligns with the strategic priorities of the Abu Dhabi government. It aims to facilitate trade and position Abu Dhabi as a preferred destination for import and export. The initiative seeks to enhance customer experience, improve operational efficiency, and achieve excellence in customs services by simplifying clearance processes and reducing transportation costs for duty-suspended goods.
Leadership's Perspective
Mubarak Matar Al Mansouri, Executive Director of the Operations Sector, highlighted that this system marks a significant milestone in Abu Dhabi Customs' strategic transformation initiatives. He noted that Abu Dhabi Customs continues to refine its procedures and services in collaboration with strategic partners. By integrating modern innovations and advanced technology, they aim to ensure business efficiency and growth while adopting best global practices.
Future Outlook
The Virtual Corridors Cargo Movement System is expected to enhance trade movement and support the UAE’s development goals. It aligns with the economic orientations of Abu Dhabi and aims to fulfil Abu Dhabi Customs' vision of becoming a World-Class Customs Authority.
