19th Sharjah Nabati Poetry Festival Concludes With Celebrations Of Culture And Leadership

The 19th Sharjah Nabati Poetry Festival wrapped up on Monday at the Cultural Centre in Kalba City, Sharjah. The event was attended by Sheikh Saeed bin Saqr bin Sultan Al Qasimi, Deputy Chairman of the Amiri Court in Khorfakkan. Also present were Sheikh Haitham bin Saqr bin Sultan Al Qasimi, Deputy Chairman of the Ruler's Office in Kalba City, and poet Bati Al Mazloum, Director of the Al Hira Literary Council and the Festival.

Emirati poet Obaid Al Shuwain opened the evening with his performance on the "rababa," a traditional string instrument. His melodies celebrated Sharjah and its ruler, His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah. Al Shuwain also praised the UAE's leadership and expressed his deep affection for his country through emotional tunes.

Sharjah Nabati Poetry Festival Concludes Successfully

Jordanian poet Abdullah Al Ajouri shared poems filled with joy, using olives and ghaf trees as symbols of love and peace. He also honoured the Ruler of Sharjah through verses that reflected on October's emotional significance for poets. His work highlighted themes of happiness and nostalgia associated with specific times.

Omani poet Ahmed Al Maashani offered verses comparing a bucket to a well, exploring themes of thirst, worries, and farewells. His poetry delved into deeper meanings behind everyday objects, creating a reflective atmosphere for listeners.

Iraqi poet Khaled Al Nabhan contributed with Bedouin-inspired poems that praised Sharjah's dedication to culture and creativity. His work resonated with traditional themes while acknowledging modern cultural advancements in the region.

Emirati poet Hassan Al Obaidli presented longer poems celebrating Sharjah and its cultural leader, often referred to as the "Sultan of Culture." His verses explored concepts like mirage, thirst, heat, pride, glory, and goodness.

Cross-Cultural Connections

Saudi poet "Al Anoud Al Wasliya" concluded with poems about breezes, travel, and strong ties between Saudi Arabia and the UAE. She highlighted culture's value as promoted by H.H. Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi. Her poetry touched on themes like fading happiness, abandonment, and emotions more powerful than Earth's rotation.

The festival showcased diverse poetic voices from across the Arab world. Each poet brought unique perspectives on culture, leadership, nature, and personal experiences. The event underscored poetry's role in fostering cultural appreciation and dialogue among nations.
