Success of the 14th Sharjah Publishers Conference

A key feature of this year's conference was its focus on matchmaking meetings. These sessions took place on the second and third days, enabling publishers to engage in individual and group meetings. The aim was to facilitate the sale and acquisition of publishing and translation rights. These interactions have been crucial in solidifying contracts and fostering international collaboration.

The matchmaking programme offered participants numerous opportunities to expand networks, negotiate rights, and form meaningful partnerships with literary agents and foreign language publishers. The energy during these sessions was evident as publishers worked diligently to establish new connections that could shape their businesses' future. This emphasis on global cooperation underscores Sharjah’s commitment to bridging diverse publishing markets.

In addition to matchmaking meetings, the conference featured 31 roundtable discussions and workshops exploring emerging trends within publishing. Topics included audio content, artificial intelligence, skills development, global opportunities, licensing issues, piracy concerns, and cultural exchange. These discussions provided a comprehensive view of how publishers can adapt to an evolving landscape.

Insights into Emerging Markets

The Skills Lab focused on improving sales strategies and leveraging digital platforms offered valuable insights for publishers aiming to expand market reach. Global-focused roundtables highlighted emerging opportunities in Africa and other regions. This underscored the importance of inclusive growth within the industry.

This year’s Sharjah Publishers Conference has established itself as a vital platform for collaboration in the global publishing ecosystem. Attendees left inspired with new knowledge ready to seize upcoming opportunities in an ever-changing industry landscape.
