The Sharjah Department of Suburbs Affairs (SDSA) recently unveiled plans for the 13th Suburbs Festival, a key community event in the emirate. The announcement took place at Bee’ah Group's headquarters, with Sheikh Majid bin Sultan Al Qasimi, Major General Abdullah Mubarak bin Amer, and Khalid Jassim Al Midfa among the attendees. Numerous officials, sponsors, and media representatives were also present.

The festival is scheduled from 12th to 31st December 2024 at Al Qarayen Park 4. This venue was chosen for its ample space and facilities, including parking that eases access and reduces traffic congestion. Its central location amidst Sharjah's main roads further enhances accessibility for visitors.

Sharjah's 13th Suburbs Festival Starts on 12 December

This year's festival promises diverse activities designed to enrich family experiences. Key attractions include a main stage with daily "Games with Suburbs" segments to foster family interaction. An Adventure Corner will focus on sustainability using containers, while an Electric Games Corner offers 17 new games suitable for all ages.

Additionally, the festival will feature 47 productive families showcasing their goods, alongside 25 small mobile carts and 10 large ones. Visitors can also enjoy offerings from five cafes and two bird shops. These elements aim to create a vibrant community atmosphere throughout the event.

In line with promoting volunteerism, over 200 volunteers from three organisations will participate through collaboration with the Sharjah Volunteer Centre. This initiative highlights Sharjah's commitment to social responsibility and community service, fostering a spirit of giving among residents.

The festival will host a total of 92 events with affordable ticket pricing. Individual tickets are priced at ten dirhams each, while family tickets allow up to seven people entry for just 20 dirhams. Children under four years old and individuals with disabilities can enter free of charge.

Cultural Significance and Vision

Dr. Abdullah Sulaiman Al Kabouri emphasised that this festival aligns with H.H. Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi's vision of strengthening familial and communal bonds in Sharjah. The event serves as a platform to reinforce these ties through engaging activities and shared experiences.

The strategic planning behind this festival reflects a broader goal of enhancing community cohesion within the emirate. By offering varied attractions and encouraging volunteer participation, the event aims to bring together diverse groups in celebration of Sharjah's rich cultural heritage.
