1 Billion Followers Summit Announces Top Five Content Creators Shortlisted For One Billion Award

The 1 Billion Followers Summit, a pioneering event for the content creator economy, has revealed the top five finalists for the One Billion Award. This award, valued at $1 million, is considered the largest prize for content creators globally. The finalists were chosen through public voting conducted from 22 to 28 December 2024, which garnered 3.3 million votes worldwide.

Organised by the UAE Government Media Office, the summit will take place in Dubai from 11 to 13 January 2025. Venues include Emirates Towers, Dubai International Financial Centre, and the Museum of the Future. The event's theme is 'Content for Good', aiming to highlight content that positively impacts communities and fosters empathy and compassion.

Top Five Content Creators for One Billion Award Announced

The shortlisted candidates include Mahmoud Zuaiter from Palestine. Zuaiter creates inspiring content amid Gaza's challenges, focusing on social issues and humanitarian aid. His work has drawn attention to conditions in Gaza and inspired hope among his approximately 3 million followers on social media platforms.

Nasser Al-Oqail from Saudi Arabia is also among the finalists. He founded "Dupamicaffeine Sciences," a channel that simplifies complex books and ideas into practical insights for his over 9 million followers across various social media platforms.

Creators For Lebanon is another finalist group consisting of four Lebanese creators: Abdallah Saadeh, Hasan Hashim, Hasan Raad, and Abir Al Saghir. They collectively have over 40 million followers and focus on aiding displaced families and rebuilding communities during crises.

An expert panel will select the winner during closed sessions on 11 and 12 January 2025. The panel includes Ahmed ElGhandour and Prajakta Koli, both ambassadors of the summit; Zachery Dereniowski; Amine Imnir, Arab Hope Maker 2024; and Hassan Suleiman (AboFlah). The winner will be announced on the summit's final day, Monday, 13 January 2025.

Simon Squibb from the UK is another finalist. As an entrepreneur and motivational speaker with over 9 million followers, he shares personal stories to inspire people to achieve their dreams while supporting social enterprises tackling global issues.

Global Participation in Content Creation

The last candidate is Samuel Weidenhofer from Australia. Known for spreading positivity through heartwarming videos featuring acts of kindness towards strangers, he has amassed over 10 million followers on social media platforms.

The One Billion Award received more than 16,000 submissions within three weeks from creators across 190 countries. This highlights a global interest in recognising impactful content that meets quality standards while engaging a wide audience.

The summit has set eligibility criteria for the award. Content must be innovative, original, adhere to social media standards, and engage a broad audience effectively.
